Membership Meeting: November 16th (Thursday)

The annual Membership Meeting will be on Thursday November 16, 2017 at the Wellington Grille (2450 Dayton Xenia Rd, Beavercreek, OH 45434). The social hour with a cash bar will start at 6:00 pm with dinner following at 7:00 pm. This year we have five 50 year honorees: Dr Ronald Camp, Dr. Richard Eppley, Dr. Gerry Keil, Dr. John McDonald and Dr.Don Sullenger. Each honoree will give a short talk on what attracted them to chemistry and the careers they had as a chemist. The section would especially like to invite graduate students at our local universities to attend the dinner as they begin their careers as chemists to interact with our honorees. Please e-mail Dr. Aaron Burke at aburke1333@aol.com or call at 937-890-2312 to make your reservation.

Call for Volunteers for National Chemistry Week!

The ACS Dayton Section is in need of volunteers for two events during National Chemistry Week this year.

  • Boonshoft Museum of Discovery event on Saturday, Oct 21 from 11 am-4 pm and Sunday, Oct 22 from noon-4 pm
  • Centerville Library event on Saturday, Oct 28 from 1-4 pm

If you are interested in volunteering for either of these events, please contact Melinda Greer at Melinda.Greer@uc.edu or 937-231-1119 with your name, contact information, and the event and hours that you would like to volunteer for. At all events, we will have several hands on experiments exploring this year’s theme “Chemistry Rocks". We need 5-6 volunteers for the library and 25-30 for the Boonshoft event, so even an hour or two of your time would be appreciated. This is a great opportunity to interact with young minds and support your local section!

Bring your own CAD design, or choose one from the extensive database at the Proto BuildBar. The Dayton Section will pay for one item to be printed and will provide snacks! And the Proto BuildBar makes a mean cappuccino!

This will be held Saturday, September 30 at 10:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Proto BuildBar, 534 E 1st St, Dayton.

So that we have an estimate for the snacks, please, let us know you if you are planning to attend by sending an e-mail to Chair@DaytonACS.org on or before September 29, 2017
